About MAJOR
Practitioner-built. Community-rooted.
MAJOR was founded in Miami in 2017 by social entrepreneur Leyanis Diaz, who kept meeting talented founders working twice as hard for half the access — to capital, guidance, and networks.
Fundada en Miami en 2017 — hecha por practicantes, arraigada en la comunidad.
What began as support for small business owners
What began as support for small business owners has grown into a full community and economic development organization, helping people and organizations start, strengthen, and grow — in business, in career, and in financial life.
Rooted in Miami, MAJOR is building toward MAJOR centers that serve communities across the country — places where a founder, a job seeker, and a family fixing their finances walk through the same door and get the same standard of help.
To open doors to economic opportunity — helping people and organizations start, strengthen, and grow.
Abrir puertas a la oportunidad económica — ayudando a personas y organizaciones a empezar, fortalecerse y crecer.
Communities where opportunity is within everyone’s reach.
Comunidades donde las oportunidades están al alcance de todos.
The vision is the world MAJOR is building; the mission is the daily work of building it.
Start
New businesses, nonprofits, careers, and plans — from first idea to first step.
Strengthen
Systems, skills, compliance, credit, confidence — foundations that hold under weight.
Grow
Revenue, readiness, advancement, and access — movement you can measure.
Five values — few enough to remember, sharp enough to decide with.
Meet people where they are
Every plan starts from real life — language, schedule, budget, and starting point included.
Roll up our sleeves
Advice is cheap. We build, organize, file, and follow through alongside our clients until it’s done.
Make it make sense
Plain language, clear steps, honest pricing. No jargon, no runaround.
Community is the strategy
We build with local partners and treat culture and connection as assets, not afterthoughts.
Stay MAJOR
High standards, real identity — proud of where we come from, focused on where we’re going.
These five are hiring criteria, program-design criteria, and copy criteria. If a decision contradicts one of them, change the decision — not the value.
Leyanis Diaz — Founder & Executive Director
A social entrepreneur who built MAJOR the way she builds client plans: start with real life, do the work, measure what finished. Leyanis leads programs, partnerships, and delivery — and still sits at the advising table.
“Talent is everywhere in this city. Access isn’t. MAJOR exists to close that gap — door by door.”
